Homicide investigation underway after body found in windowless home in Pennsylvania town

An investigation is underway into the apparent death of a woman found dead inside her home in a small Pennsylvania town.

Harvey Fire Chief Bob Murray said Monday the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the 300 block of South Main Street in Harvey, an unincorporated town about two hours southwest of Harrisburg.

The woman’s name was not released.

“No foul play is suspected at this time,” Murray said in a release. “The State Police Homicide Unit has been called in to assist in the investigation.”

Harvey police are asking anyone with information to call local detectives at 717-346-6302 or to call 911.

The address where the body was found is located in the Harold G. Knight Section of Old Mill Village where several assisted living homes are located.

Harvey Mayor Wilson Edgecombe told Fox43 News the woman lived alone and was not well known in the community.

In addition to Harvey police, state police and Coroner’s Office homicide detectives are also investigating.

A police presence remains at the scene throughout the day Monday.
